Notice Under Domestic Animals Act 1994

Notice is hereby given that, at its meeting on 20 December 2022, Wellington Shire Council has, by way of resolution made an Order pursuant to section 25 of the Domestic Animals Act 1994 requiring all owners of a cat to keep that cat securely confined to the owner’s property, unless effectively contained or controlled and not allow the cat to wander at large outside the owner’s premises.

This order covers all areas of the municipality from 19 January, 2023. Council has elected to provide a six-month amnesty period (from this date) before we undertake compliance measures.
