About National Volunteer Week

National Volunteer Week (NVW) is Australia's largest celebration of volunteers, occurring annually in May. The celebration highlights the essential role volunteers play in our communities and serves as an invitation for individuals who have not yet volunteered to discover the joy and impact of contributing their time and skills.

National Volunteer Week Celebrations in Wellington

Since 2023 Council hosts three annual NVW events to honor local volunteers across the municipality. The celebrations feature free food, guest speakers, lucky door prizes, opportunities for networking and a heartfelt thank you from Councillors to all volunteers for their invaluable contributions to our community.

Locations of the NVW events move each year to ensure Council has the opportunity to thank and celebrate volunteers in all communities.

  • 2023 NVW events were held in Sale, Maffra and Yarram.
  • 2024 NVW events were held in Sale, Golden Beach and Heyfield.
  • 2025 NVW events are to be confirmed.
