Will I be able to request items from other Libraries Victoria libraries for pick up in Wellington?
Yes, however, not all Libraries Victoria collections will be available. Wellington Libraries will be grouped with the following libraries:
Why was there a disruption to services?
Public Libraries Victoria was required to move to a new state-wide courier service for our interlibrary loans.
Why are there changes to services?
Increasing costs have impacted many aspects of our service. Victorian public libraries have worked together to identify ways to reduce the costs of sharing collections. We have streamlined services, identified the most cost-effective methods of moving items across the state, and considered the most equitable ways to ensure all libraries receive value for money.
Why can't I see items from certain libraries on the catalogue?
To reduce confusion, only the item holdings of our group libraries are visible on our catalogue.
Can I travel to other Libraries Victoria libraries and borrow their items?
Yes, your card will still work at Libraries Victoria libraries. However, we are limited with transporting items between libraries.
Can I still return items borrowed from other Libraries Victoria libraries to Wellington Libraries?
Yes, items can still be returned to any Libraries Victoria library. However, where possible, please return items to the library you borrowed them from as this will help reduce transportation costs.
There is a new release book I was hoping to borrow but you do not own it. Can you purchase it?
You can submit a suggestion for purchase using our website, and staff will make an assessment on whether to purchase the item.
I really need access to a particular item that you do not own. Will I still be able to get it?
We can still try to source items using alternative methods. Please speak with library staff who will investigate if a title can be sourced. This process can take longer, so we appreciate your patience during this time.
For more information, please contact Wellington Libraries on (03) 5142 3146. We apologise for any inconvenience this temporary change may cause you.
In the meantime, you can still search the library collection of Wellington Shire, log into your account, manage your loans and join the library online.
