Wellington Shire Council is excited to celebrate its green spaces with a week of outdoor fun and community events.

Kicking off Saturday 1 March to Sunday 9 March 2025, the annual Parks Week celebration highlights the important role parks play in creating liveable and connected communities.

This year, Wellington Shire has organised another fantastic program of free activities for all ages and abilities, offering opportunities to get outdoors, connect with nature, and explore the municipality’s incredible parks and open spaces.

As with each year, a key highlight will be Baby’s Day Out at Sale’s Brennan Park and Kid’s Day Out at Yarram’s Memorial Park. Both events are fantastic and free for families, featuring a jumping castle, face painting, a petting zoo, sausage sizzle, and more.

Wellington Shire Council Mayor, Cr Scott Rossetti said Parks Week is all about getting out and enjoying local green spaces - a time to step away from screens, connect with others, and discover the beauty of our natural environment.

“Our parks bring people together, give kids and families a place to play, and make our towns better places to live.

“Whether you’re going for a walk, having a kick of the footy, or just relaxing under a tree, spending time outside is great for your wellbeing. We’ve got something for everyone this year – from forest therapy walks, to park runs, workshops, interactive children’s shows, skateboarding lessons, movie nights, and it all ends with the popular Sale Music Festival taking place at the west side of the Port of Sale”.

While some Parks Week events require physical activity such as walking, running, riding or exercise, most of Council's open spaces are accessible for all people, including people with limited mobility or anyone living with a disability.
