Wellington Shire Council's vision is for happy people, healthy environment and thriving communities.
After Hours Emergency
1300 366 244Wellington Shire Council is refreshing its Community Engagement Policy and Strategy and is inviting residents to have their say on how Council connects with the community.
These two important documents outline how Council engages with the community on projects, decisions and services that impact everyday life across the Shire. They also meet requirements under the Local Government Act 2020, which sets a clear expectation that when Victorian councils engage with their communities, they must do it in a meaningful, transparent and inclusive way.
Wellington Shire Council Mayor Cr Scott Rossetti said the updated Policy and Strategy will guide how Council seeks feedback, runs consultations and ensures that the voices of residents' help shape the future of the municipality. “Community engagement is about more than ticking a box - it’s about genuinely listening and working together to get better outcomes,” said Mayor Rossetti.
“Whether it's a small local project or a Shire-wide strategy, we want to make sure everyone has the opportunity to contribute.”

Why It Matters
Under the Local Government Act 2020, all Victorian councils must develop a Community Engagement Policy that outlines how they will involve the community in decision-making. This includes planning, service delivery, financial management and major projects.
