By offering incentives to ratepayers council helps protect and enhance remnant areas of vegetation from further degradation.

A rate rebate is provided to landowners who have placed a Trust for Nature Conservation Covenant on their property.

A conservation covenant is a voluntary legal agreement between a private landowner and Trust for Nature, ensuring that the land's natural, cultural, or scientific values are permanently protected and conserved.

The annual rebate is calculated at $15 per hectare, with a minimum rebate of $100 and a maximum rebate equal to the property's annual general rate.

You can find the Rates Rebate on Land with a Deed of Covenant for Conservation Purposes Policy on the Council Policies page.

For further information on the program visit Trust for Nature.

Already have a Trust for Nature Conservation covenant on your property? You must register with council to receive your rebate. Send your request to enquires@wellington.vic.gov.au
