Inappropriate Coastal Subdivisions - Proposed Solution

Wellington Shire Council has endorsed a set of conditions for a permanent solution to the long running problem of inappropriate coastal subdivisions. Council will now ask the Victorian government to support the proposal through funding and legislation.

The solution covers properties in between Golden Beach and The Honeysuckles which are currently affected by a development moratorium imposed in 2007. The problem was initially created when land was sold in flood prone areas and delicate sand dune areas in the 1960s. Thousands of blocks were inappropriately subdivided at the time.
